Monel Sheets

Monel sheets are highly sought-after for their exceptional corrosion resistance and excellent mechanical properties. Om Steel is a reputable manufacturer and supplier of Monel sheets, offering a wide range of types, grades, and sizes to meet various industry requirements.

Monel sheets are available in different grades, including Monel 400 and Monel K500. Monel 400 is known for its resistance to corrosion in various environments, such as seawater and chemical processing plants. It offers excellent weldability and high strength, making it suitable for applications in marine and offshore industries. Monel K500, with its increased strength and hardness, is often used in extreme conditions and high-stress applications.

These sheets exhibit remarkable features such as good thermal conductivity, low coefficient of thermal expansion, and high resistance to acids and alkalis. They are commonly utilized in industries such as aerospace, chemical processing, oil and gas, and marine engineering.

At Om Steel, we prioritize product quality and customer satisfaction. Our Monel sheets undergo rigorous testing to ensure they meet international quality standards. With our expertise and commitment to excellence, we strive to provide reliable solutions to our clients.

Grades of Monel Sheets

Monel K500 (UNS N05500)

Monel K500 is a precipitation-hardened alloy that contains aluminum and titanium. It has higher strength and hardness than Monel 400 due to its age-hardening process. The age-hardening process involves heating the alloy at a high temperature followed by rapid cooling to produce a supersaturated solid solution. This process increases the strength of the alloy by forming fine precipitates within it.

Monel R405 (UNS N04405)

Monel R405 is a free-machining grade of Monel that contains sulfur. The addition of sulfur improves the machinability of the alloy but reduces its ductility and impact strength. This grade is commonly used for making fasteners, shafts, valves, and fittings.

Monel 404 (UNS N04404)

Monel 404 is an alloy that contains copper, nickel, iron, manganese, silicon, carbon, and sulfur. It has good corrosion resistance properties in seawater but lower mechanical properties than Monel 400.

ASME SB Monel Sheets Equivalent Grades

SB 127 – UNS N04400

SB 127 specification covers Monel 400 sheets and plates that are made from UNS N04400 alloy. This grade of Monel has excellent resistance to seawater corrosion, acids, alkalis, and stress corrosion cracking. It can be easily fabricated using conventional methods such as hot or cold working.

SB 127 – UNS N05500

SB 127 specification also covers Monel K500 sheets and plates that are made from UNS N05500 alloy. This grade of Monel has higher strength than Monel 400 due to the addition of aluminum and titanium elements. It offers excellent resistance to seawater corrosion, erosion-corrosion, cavitation damage, and high-velocity seawater impingement.

SB 168 – UNS N06600

SB 168 specification covers Monel 600 sheets and plates that are made from UNS N06600 alloy. This grade of Monel has excellent resistance to oxidation at high temperatures up to 2000°F (1093°C). It also offers good mechanical properties at low temperatures down to -450°F (-268°C).

SB 575 – UNS N10276

SB 575 specification covers Hastelloy C276 sheets and plates that are made from UNS N10276 alloy. Although it is not a pure form of Monel alloy, it contains nickel, molybdenum, chromium, and tungsten elements that enhance its corrosion resistance in harsh environments. It is commonly used in chemical processing, pulp and paper manufacturing, and waste treatment industries.

SB 625 – UNS N06625

SB 625 specification covers Inconel 625 sheets and plates that are made from UNS N06625 alloy. Similar to Hastelloy C276, it is not a pure form of Monel alloy but contains nickel, chromium, molybdenum, and niobium elements that provide excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and intergranular attack. It is widely used in aerospace, marine engineering, and nuclear power generation industries.

Monel 400

One of the most popular grades of Monel cold rolled sheets is Monel 400. This grade contains approximately 67% nickel and 23% copper. It also has small amounts of iron, manganese, carbon, and silicon. Monel 400 offers excellent resistance to seawater corrosion and stress-corrosion cracking in freshwater environments. It is also resistant to sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid, and alkaline solutions.

Monel K500

Another grade of Monel cold rolled sheets is Monel K500. This grade contains approximately 63% nickel and 30% copper with small amounts of aluminum and titanium. Compared to Monel 400, it has higher strength and hardness due to its age-hardening process. However, it has lower corrosion resistance than Monel 400 in some environments.

Monel 404 (UNS N04404)

Monel 404 is an alloy that contains copper, nickel, iron, manganese, silicon, carbon, and sulfur. It has good corrosion resistance properties in seawater but lower mechanical properties than Monel 400.
