Super Duplex Stainless Steel Tube
Super duplex stainless steel tubes are highly durable and resistant to corrosion, making them an ideal choice for use in harsh environments. At Om steel, we offer a wide range of super duplex stainless steel tubes that are designed to meet the unique needs of our clients.
Super duplex stainless steel tubes are made up of a combination of austenitic and ferritic stainless steel, which provides them with exceptional strength and resistance to corrosion. These tubes have higher chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen content than standard duplex stainless steel tubes, which provides them with superior corrosion resistance and higher strength.
At Om steel, we offer various grades of super duplex stainless steel tubes, including S32750, S32760, S32550, and others. These grades have different properties and are used in various applications based on their strength, corrosion resistance, and other factors. For instance, S32750 is a high-strength grade that is commonly used in oil and gas industry applications, while S32760 is a super duplex grade with excellent corrosion resistance that is often used in marine and chemical processing industries.
Super duplex stainless steel tubes also offer excellent heat resistance, making them suitable for high-temperature applications. They are highly versatile and can be used in various industrial applications, including oil and gas, chemical processing, and desalination. Om Steel is a trusted manufacturer of high-quality super duplex stainless steel tubes that offer exceptional features such as high strength, superior corrosion resistance, and heat resistance.
Types of Super Duplex Stainless Steel Tubes
There are two main types of super duplex stainless steel tubes: welded and seamless. Welded tubes are made by welding two pieces of metal together, while seamless tubes are made from a single piece of metal that is heated and then rolled into shape.
Welded super duplex stainless steel tubes are more cost-effective than seamless ones because they require less material to produce. However, they have a lower tolerance for pressure and temperature changes than seamless tubes. Seamless super duplex stainless steel tubes have a higher tolerance for pressure and temperature changes but are more expensive to produce.
Standard Super Duplex Tubes
Standard super duplex tubes are made from a combination of 22% chromium, 5-6% nickel, 3% molybdenum, and trace amounts of nitrogen. This composition gives these tubes excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-containing environments.
These tubes also have high mechanical strength and good ductility, making them suitable for use in high-pressure applications such as offshore drilling platforms and chemical processing plants.
Super Duplex Lean Grade Tubes
Super duplex lean grade tubes have a lower alloy content than standard super duplex tubes. They typically contain 21-23% chromium, 1.5-2.5% nickel, 0.3-0.6% molybdenum, and trace amounts of nitrogen.
Despite their lower alloy content, these tubes still offer good corrosion resistance in chloride-containing environments. They are also more cost-effective than standard super duplex tubes while still providing good mechanical strength.
Super Duplex Hyper Grade Tubes
Super duplex hyper grade tubes are designed for use in highly corrosive environments such as seawater or acidic solutions. They typically contain higher levels of chromium (25-26%), nickel (7%), molybdenum (4%), and nitrogen (0.3%).
These tubes offer superior corrosion resistance compared to standard super duplex or lean grade tubes. They are also highly resistant to stress corrosion cracking and erosion-corrosion, making them ideal for use in offshore oil rigs, desalination plants, and chemical processing facilities.
Super Duplex Super Hyper Tubes
Super duplex super hyper tubes are the most advanced type of super duplex tubing available today. These tubes have a unique composition that includes 25-26% chromium, 7-8% nickel, 4% molybdenum, and 0.3% nitrogen.
In addition to their exceptional corrosion resistance properties, these tubes also offer superior mechanical strength and fatigue resistance. They are designed for use in extreme environments where other types of tubing would fail.

Standards of Super Duplex Stainless Steel Tubes
The most common standards used for super duplex stainless steel tubes include ASTM A789, ASTM A790, and EN 10216-5.
ASTM A789 is the standard specification for welded ferritic/austenitic stainless steel tubing for general service. It covers grades such as UNS S31803 (Duplex 2205) and UNS S32750 (Super Duplex 2507). This standard specifies the requirements for straight-seam or spiral-seam welded tubing with wall thicknesses up to 0.75 inches inclusive.
ASTM A790 is the standard specification for seamless and welded ferritic/austenitic stainless steel pipe. It covers grades such as UNS S31803 (Duplex 2205) and UNS S32750 (Super Duplex 2507). This standard specifies the requirements for straight-seam or spiral-seam welded tubing with wall thicknesses up to 0.75 inches inclusive.
EN 10216-5 is the European standard for seamless steel tubes for pressure purposes. It covers grades such as X2CrNiMoN22-5-3 (1.4462) and X2CrNiMoCuWN25-7-4 (1.4501). This standard specifies the requirements for non-alloy and alloy steel tubes with specified low temperature properties.
Tolerances for Super Duplex UNS S Tube
Super duplex stainless steel tubes are widely used in various industries, including chemical processing, oil and gas, and marine engineering. These tubes are known for their exceptional strength, corrosion resistance, and durability. However, to ensure the quality of these tubes, manufacturers must adhere to strict standards and tolerances.
ASTM A789 UNS S32750 and ASTM A790 UNS S32750 are two of the most commonly used specifications for super duplex stainless steel tubes. These standards provide guidelines on the chemical composition, mechanical properties, heat treatment, manufacturing processes, and testing procedures for these tubes.
UNS S32750 is a grade of super duplex stainless steel that contains 25% chromium, 7% nickel, 3.6% molybdenum, and other elements such as nitrogen and tungsten. It has a high resistance to pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, stress corrosion cracking (SCC), and general corrosion in chloride environments.
UNS S32760 is another grade of super duplex stainless steel that has a higher content of chromium (27%), molybdenum (4%), and nitrogen (0.3%) than UNS S32750. It offers even greater resistance to corrosion in harsh environments such as seawater.

FAQ
Super duplex stainless steel tubes are used in a wide range of applications, including oil and gas exploration and production, chemical processing, marine engineering, and other high-corrosion environments. They are often used in applications that require high strength, durability, and resistance to corrosion.
Super duplex stainless steel tubes offer several benefits over other types of tubes, including their high strength, durability, and resistance to corrosion. They are also highly customizable, allowing for specific application requirements to be met. Know more
There are several grades of super duplex stainless steel used for tubes, including UNS S32750 and UNS S32760. These grades offer excellent resistance to corrosion and high strength. Know more
Super duplex stainless steel tubes are typically manufactured using a process called hot forming, which involves heating the material and then forming it into the desired shape using a hydraulic press or other forming equipment. The manufacturing process can also involve additional heat treatments or surface finishing processes to further enhance the properties of the super duplex stainless steel.
